Why Join PBK?

One purpose of Phi Beta Kappa is to honor students who have achieved distinction in the liberal arts and sciences. No more than 10% of graduates may be elected to membership, and these must have satisfied the ambitious requirements of a broad liberal arts curriculum.

Eligibility

No application is required to be considered for Phi Beta Kappa; membership is by invitation only.  If you meet the minimum standards, your name will automatically be forwarded to the membership for election.

To accept your invitation to membership, follow the instructions in the invitation letter to register at the national Phi Beta Kappa website before the end of July. The initiation ceremony, held during Student Achievement Week in June, is one of the chapter’s highlights of the year. Attendance at the ceremony is not required but is encouraged.
